Building a career as a yoga teacher is challenging because unlike many other kinds of jobs, you have to build out a career in one hour blocks, working to get and then manage each gig separately.

While the explosion of online offerings and social media as a marketing tool has changed much about the landscape, there is one thing it hasn’t changed. In my view, the best way to build a career as a yoga teacher is to teach private clients.

There are a lot of business coaches that try to sell yoga teachers on the idea that creating digital offerings and on-demand courses for students is the best way to have a sustainable income, and I am here to say that I think this is pretty bad advice.

I should be clear-- I am not a business coach. My passion is in the craft of teaching itself and I help yoga teachers have more successful, sustainable careers because they focus on deepening their teaching.

Of course, skillful business practices are part of that, but teachers work with me because they get to make more money teaching because they become better, more confident teachers. I won’t make you do a bunch of slimy marketing stuff because, blech, I don’t want to either!
