This week it’s gonna be all about the adductors This week it’s gonna be all about the adductors and quads and prepping for some fun side plank variations and bakasana. And we’ll start a new series on meditation! See you there @stillnessandmovementstudio 💕
Many of the yoga teachers I’ve worked with feel Many of the yoga teachers I’ve worked with feel more comfortable and confident teaching asana than they do teaching the other seven limbs of yoga. This was true of me as a new teacher also! Questions about how to skillfully interweave dharma and asana come up frequently with the teachers in our community.

It is important to note that if asana feels totally separate from the rest of Yoga and we have to work to reintegrate it, that is a sign that the yoga we are teaching is impacted by colonization and appropriation. I don’t say that to upset anyone; It would be very hard to avoid the impacts of those oppressive forces since they are the water of the culture we swim in.

In any case, I’m so happy to share with you this Live Mentoring Session with longtime listener of the show and wonderful yoga teacher Meredith Witte, of @theplayground.app
Meredith brought excellent, thoughtful questions that inspired an in-depth conversation about finding my voice and integrating dharma and asana. I hope you enjoy listening in!

In this episode you’ll hear:
🔸the way I shared dharma as a new teacher
🔸how I plan my group classes
🔸the ways I try to create a clear relationship between the movement practice and dharma themes
🔸how a deep study of anatomy impacted my understanding of Buddhist teachings
🔸skillful ways to incorporate dharma into private sessions

Please share below if you have any follow-up questions or reflections to share from the episode! 👇🏻
My group classes this week are a riff on some stuf My group classes this week are a riff on some stuff we did last week. We’ll be twisting and preparing for a version of Supta Virasana…a different one from last week. We’ll also be, as always, moving a bit and resting a bit and finding ourselves in the center of each moment, offering care there first, and then sending care out into ever widen circles. As always.

Do you have questions for me about how I plan my group classes? Drop them below! I’ll do a podcast about it soon!

And also, I’ll say part of what supports my process is that I have a group class template I created and work from. I don’t always follow it exactly, but tomorrow’s Teacher’s Practice is a classic example of the way I build my group classes. So if you are interested, sign up at the link in my bio! And if you can’t attend live no worries, you’ll get the recording! @stillnessandmovementstudio
