10:30a-12:30p
The Yoga of Discernment is what we teach when come to the realization that asanas are not magical shapes that have the power to transform a normal human into an enlightened one. In this workshop we will talk about what it is we are actually teaching our students {there is something!}, since there are no universal truths we can count on. This workshop will introduce the idea of the Yoga Of Discernment, why it is important to teach, and most certainly HOW to teach it. For teachers.
Part II – Discernment In “Adjustments”: A Non-Dogmatic Approach To Hands-On
1:30p-5:30p
Giving frequent and clear assists is a powerful experience for your students, and you must be clear about your intentions. If you feel like you weren’t taught how to “do hands-on”, come to this workshop. With a supportive framework, you may find that you know more than you think you do. We’ll take the lens of Discernment we set up in Part 1, and apply it to the way we use our hands to communicate with our students. For teachers.
Sunday, Oct 22: How To Teach Grounded Vinyasa Flow Yoga
Part I, 10:30a-1:30p
This workshop is for teachers whose trainings didn’t teach them how to teach yoga within the context of movement, IE Vinyasa Flow Yoga…but find they are gravitating towards towards teaching that way anyway. In Part 1 of 2 we will cover what a vinyasa class is and what it isn’t, setting a clear metronome, cueing breath in a supportive, not restrictive way, and reasons to sequence in a particular way. We will also have a short practice and begin to learn some vinyasa templates to make incorporating this style into your teaching more seamless. For teachers.
Part II, 1:30p-5:30p
Part 2 will build on Part 1 and will cover different kinds of sequencing and how to teach new poses and offer modifications within the context of movement. We will also have an opportunity to practice teach and build on the templates we learned in Part 1. For teachers.
